PASCO COUNTY – The “Stuff the Bus” campaign netted more than 10,000 pounds of food so this county’s needy children, seniors and families could have a complete Thanksgiving.

This year, the community came out in force donating more than 10,000 pounds of food, 40 turkeys and more than $800 in cash for the Volunteer Way Food Pantry. The totals more than quadrupled last year’s collection of 2,000 pounds of food.

“We are amazed at how much food the drive collected from the community,” said Phil Pumphrey, director of Pasco County Public Transportation. “We would like to send a big, heartfelt thank you to the community and local organizations for their generous donations.”

The annual “Stuff the Bus” drive is a partnership between the Pasco County Public Transportation Department and the Volunteer Way. The Volunteer Way is a nonprofit organization that has been helping Pasco County’s homeless and low income families for more than 20 years.
