Kids Art License Tags on Sale in Pinellas

Kids Tag Art | Pinellas | Tax Collector

The vanity tags were created by art pupils in 37 Pinellas County elementary schools.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Diane Nelson, Pinellas County tax collector, says that Kids Tag Art Pinellas vanity plates are now on sale.

Kids Tag Art Pinellas is a community partnership program that brings businesses, students, families, government and the public school system together to increase awareness about the importance of arts in the community.

Elementary art students created their own unique vanity tag that anyone can purchase for the front of their cars. All funds raised directly support arts education in Pinellas County. One dollar from the sale of each tag benefits the St. Petersburg College Foundation’s “I AM 4 ART, U CAN B 2” Scholarship Fund. Remaining proceeds from tag sales and community sponsorships are given to the Pinellas County Schools Visual Arts Department to be used exclusively as supplemental funding for art enrichment programs and supplies for participating schools. So far, $53,200 cash and $10,000 in-kind donations have been received from community partners.

“It is imperative that Pinellas County students have the opportunity to not only think creatively but also strategically,” Nelson said. “Kids Tag Art provides the opportunity for students to expand their horizons and learn about the economic benefits of arts in Pinellas and throughout the world.”

According to the Arts Education Partnership’s Preparing Students for the Next America report: “Arts programs support student achievement in school, bolster skills demanded of a 21st-century workforce, and enrich the lives of young people and communities.”

Pinellas schools Superintendent Michael Grego said, “Art education helps Pinellas County Schools students become more confident and more understanding of the world around them. Kids Tag Art Pinellas will help to foster the creativity of our students, while enabling the school district to provide more resources for our art education programs in classrooms.”
