The Tampa Bay Community Development Corp. offers financial aid and counseling on a range of issues including homeownership, financial literacy, and foreclosure prevention.

CLEARWATER – U.S. Rep. Charlie Crist, D-St. Petersburg, announced a $39,000 grant from the Department of Housing and Urban Development to the Tampa Bay Community Development Corp., an organization aimed at promoting homeownership in the Tampa Bay area.

This grant supports the Tampa Bay CDC’s work offering financial assistance and counseling on a range of issues including homeownership, financial literacy, and foreclosure prevention.

“Homeownership is the cornerstone of the American dream, but for too many in our community, this important step towards financial security is out of reach. The Tampa Bay CDC serves as a partner with families working to achieve this dream, offering counseling, mentorship, and financial support to assist prospective homeowners and revitalize neighborhoods throughout the Tampa Bay area,” Crist said.

“I’m honored to announce this grant supplementing the incredible work the Tampa Bay CDC is doing to address the housing affordability crisis in our community, making the American dream a reality for Pinellas families of all income levels.”

Established in Clearwater in 1982, the Tampa Bay CDC provides counseling, mentorship, education, and financial assistance to promote homeownership among middle- and lower-income families. Serving the Pinellas and Hillsborough County areas, the Tampa Bay CDC has offered more than $25.6 million in downpayment assistance to qualifying Tampa Bay families.
