Pinellas County Hosts Historic Preservation Summit and Training Session

Meeting | Training | Seminar

The Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board was created in 2015 to promote historic preservation.

CLEARWATER – The Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board will host a Historic Preservation Summit and Training on Wednesday (March 18).  The Historic Preservation Summit and Training is geared towards preservationists, Realtors and those interested in historic preservation. The hands-on training provided at the event will focus on using social media and online interactive databases in historic preservation efforts.

Presenters include staff from Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, Pinellas County Business Technology Services and Historic Preservation board members. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about a historic preservation network and will get to meet other preservation leaders.  This event is “Bring Your Own Device,” and participants are encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet or smartphone in order to participate in the interactive training.

Established in 2005 and amended in 2013, the Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board is responsible for promoting historic preservation by proposing additional designations to preserve historic resources, supporting the county’s application for a Florida Certified Local Government and maintaining consistent historic preservation policy in Pinellas County planning processes.

The presentation is open to the public and begins at 1 p.m. at the Pinellas Realtor Organization headquarters, 4590 Ulmerton Road. Registration is open online through Monday (March 16)  by calling (727) 464-336 or at pinellascounty.org. Space is limited. For information about the Historic Preservation Board, see pinellascounty.org.
