Hometown Business: What’s Happening in Seminole

Ferris Wheel | Fair | Events

Welcome to Hometown Business, a new feature written by local chambers of commerce to let you know what’s happening in the businesses and communities they serve. (Any chamber that would like to have a Hometown Business column, email info@tbreporter.com and we’ll get back with you.)

Today, the Seminole Chamber of Commerce highlights a store opening and upcoming events.

With the razing and rebuilding of the former Seminole Mall, now the Seminole City Center, the chamber is holding lots of ribbon cuttings to welcome new businesses to the city. On Saturday (March 4), Petco officially opened with a ribbon cutting. Petco, of course, sells pet products and supplies.

This coming weekend is a big one. It’s time for the annual Seminole Pow Wow Festival and Parade.

The festival kicks off Friday (March 10) and runs through Sunday (March 12). The Pow Wow Festival and Parade is Seminole’s oldest and largest event celebrating residents and visitors. From the carnival and parade to the community events, food, fireworks, music and carnival rides, there is fun to be had for all ages! It’s held at the Seminole Recreation Center, 9100 113th St. N.

A carnival ride wristband for unlimited rides is $20 on Friday and Saturday; $15, Sunday.  For information, go to powwowfestival.com or call (727) 391-8345.

March 31: Relay for Life of Central Pinellas, 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. at Seminole High School, 8401 131st St N. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature fundraising event and, since 1985, has grown into the world’s largest movement to end cancer.  Relay is a community event where teams and individuals come together to celebrate the cancer survivors in our communities, remember those in our lives that have been touched by cancer, and where people fundraise to fight back with much needed research and patient services. Organizers are looking for volunteers, teams, donors and sponsors! To register, go to Relayforlife.org/CentralPinellasFL
