Here are some of the happenings at the Seminole Chamber of Commerce for the upcoming month.

SEMINOLE -Here’s what’s happening in Seminole business for the next few weeks.

Through Sept. 30:  Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters is sponsoring a two-month “sock drive” to benefit soldiers and local community groups.

Operation: Military Matters, founded by two Seminole students, Ava Spano and Graci Tubbs, continually need tube and crew socks for the shoe boxes they pack for our men and women in uniform. The Seminole Interfaith Food Pantry, in anticipation of winter, will distribute the socks to clients in need of food and warm feet.

“I have noticed that the citizens, churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations of Seminole are always generous with their giving. Hopefully we can collect another 500 pairs of tube and crew socks during August and September. Local retail stores sell for about $10 a bag of 10-12 pairs. So 50 bags in two months is a do-able goal,” Waters said. “Please sock it to me through September …but only with socks!”

There is a drop-off box at Seminole City Hall for the tube crew socks. City Hall is located next to the Post Office st 9199 113th Street N.  Waters can be contacted at (727) 391-0204, ext. 102, or lwaters@myseminole.com.
